What a Racing Membership Includes
Weekly training sessions
We run a 2-hour session every Tuesday evening. Whether you ski race, snowboard, freestyle, or just want to practice for the holidays, these sessions are designed for everyone! Members will have access to transport to and from the ski centre.
Competitive opportunities
DUSSC prides itself in our success across university-wide competitions. With opportunities to race at competitions such as Kings, BUDS, and AJAM, the racing calendar is booked from November to May! We hope to enter into as many categories as possible this year, and, with multiple teams, hope to get as many people involved as possible.
Team Durham Perks
With a racer membership you will have the option to upgrade to a Team Durham membership. This will entitle you to all the perks of being a Team Durham Member!
What a Social Membership Includes
Bi-weekly socials
One of the best parts about being in DUSSC are our infamous socials. Every other Monday we host anything from a bar crawl or a terrace party to a dinner social! Expect wacky themes, good chat, and lots of challenges and traditions to get yourselves involved in. Be prepared for the best time of your life.
Social attendance at competitions/ festivals
Get to be a part of the main action without having to do any of the racing! As a social member you can attend all Kings competitions/afterparties. Some highlights in the competition calendar also include the best weekend of your life at BUDS. You can also attend AJAM, which is the UKs biggest snow sport festival- it’s completely decked out with music, food trucks, and lots of other uni’s social members.
Access to Ski trip and Snowball
For the 2026 Ski Trip we require that you must have a DUSSC membership to successfully book on- we will be checking!
Snowball is described by many DUSSCLINGs as the best night in the social calendar, Snowball is our annual ball for DUSSC members. It’s a black tie evening full of wonderful outfits, a sit-down meal, and plenty of music and ENTs to enjoy afterwards.

-
Freestyle and Snowboard Captain
Also taking home Gold as part of the winning mixed team at BUDS 2025, Hugo’s responsibilities focus on the training and entry of individual freestylers, and a snowboard team/individual competitors.
Your Questions, Answered-
Absolutely not! You don’t even need to have ever touched a pair of skis to join. If you love fun, or want to give dry slope lessons a go, DUSSC is the place for you!
-
Absolutely! We ensure that our taster session and our first social are open to all. We do have a discount on our membership price during freshers week, but if you want to give DUSSC a go before you do, then those are the events for you!
-
You certainly can. If you want to purchase a social membership to just give DUSSC a feel initially and then add on a social membership, that’s absolutely fine. You can do this at any point of the year. Although, note that if you do this we cannot refund your social membership purchase.
-
No, you do not need to purchase both. A social membership ensures you can enjoy all the events DUSSC hosts/partakes in, but you cannot race with this membership type. If you have a racer membership, this means you have access to everything- both the slope and the socials!
